Direct Cremation

What is Direct Cremation?

Direct Cremation is often used as a term to describe a funeral where a person’s wish is to be cremated without a funeral service in the traditional sense. The Deceased is conveyed to the crematorium at a pre-booked date and time, taken into the Chapel and then cremated. There is no provision for music or for a Eulogy in any form. Our option B listed below does allow for a small number of mourners to witness the Committal. For further information on these options please contact us.

Our Direct Cremation Services Include;

Option A

  • The Funeral Directors’ service
  • Attending to the necessary arrangements
  • Provision of the necessary staff to transport the coffin
  • Provision of a simple coffin suitable for cremation
  • Conveyance of the deceased from the place of death to our Private Chapel of Rest during normal working hours. (Within a 10-mile radius of our premises. Additional charges will apply for Conveyance over 10 miles)
  • Provision of our Hearsette directly from our Southchurch office to Southend-on-Sea Crematorium for Committal NOT witnessed at 8.45 a.m. on a day of our choice

plus necessary disbursements

Option B

All the services above, but with the inclusion of a Hearse rather than a Hearsette and visits to the Chapel of Rest during our normal office hours by appointment, and the option of a witnessed Committal at 9.30 a.m. on a day of our choice.
